The lock barely moves but the window works fine.

Chevy truck door wont open from inside or outside.

Roll the window down and carefully push the door panel away at the top right above the latch rear of door then look down inside the door at the latch and figure out which rod fell of the latch. Now it will not open from the inside pulling on the rod behind the panel or from the outside door handle. Are there any tricks to open the door so i can finish my repair. If you are having trouble because your truck door won t open from the inside or outside there is most likely an issue with rods that hold the lock in place.

I have also tried using my key in the keyhole on the outside but still nothing. You can take a long screw driver of piece of drill rod and manipulate the lever that opens the latch to get the door open and make repairs as needed. The method for this will vary by make and model but start by trying to slide the panel upwards. The lock on my door still goes up and down as if it can be locked and unlocked.

These parts run between the key tumbler the door lock button the lock mechanism the interior and exterior door handles and the release mechanism for the latch. I am in process of fixing it when the door shut. Remove the door panel. However when it is in the unlocked position i still cannot open my drivers door from the inside or the outside.

It feels as if there is nothing there or no tension on anything.
